About Us

Damien Hey Dance Academy was established after Damien turned professional and was giving couples some guest lessons to help them competitively.

He realised that many dancers wanted more from their dancing, and there was a different way possible for teaching dance, breaking down conventional and traditional methods, making it more fun and natural, not just numbers and steps! like Damien had through his own career, after seeing the belief and trust that they and their families had in him to lead them to success, it was they who helped create Damien Hey Dance Academy. Not just for competitions, but for everybody! Everybody can learn to dance!

Unbelievably for any Dance school, we started with just 6 people, along with Damien’s enthusiasm and insatiable drive, was to start the juggernaut of quality and excellence and truly making a mark and breaking the mould! And are still the foundation of everything we have become.

Our growth and success’s has been remarkable, we offer dance classes at 3 amazing venues in the North West to all levels every day of the week, from beginners who have never seen a dance floor who just want to learn a fantastic hobby, to social dancers who just want to dance the night away, and of course we enter people Into regional international competitions every week of the year, with continued results and achievement's. We are honoured that some of the countries leading dancers train with us, and are winning titles with us.

This is not only down to the amazing teacher’s own desire and love for dance! But also to the attitude, dedication, and talent of all those who come through the door. They are the reason for creating the culture and atmosphere of excellence and enjoyment at DHDA. And they are the school’s most

Damien Hey was one of the UK’s and Europe’s most successful and experienced Ballroom & Latin Competitors. And now an International Championship Adjudicator, and leading coach, and competition organiser, passes on his knowledge to his students from beginners to international  stars!

Damien’s absolute love of competing and training, took him to all corners, of not just the UK but the globe. 

As he will admit to he was the most useless person to ever take up dancing, but with the help of his great teachers and plenty of practice, he was able to achieve more than he ever thought possible at that first beginners class...proof that any non dancer can make it!

He trained all his career with great coaches and believes that what he learned from competing and training in different countries, about the way they trained and used different methods, gives him an advantage and a unique insight he now can pass onto his pupil’s.

Damien is very proud to have danced in over 600 Competitions, in many different countries, and honoured to have represented his country in International Competition’s on 48 occasion’s.
